Oakland Parks Coalition is a city-wide association of community members and agencies working to implement standards of excellence for the maintenance of our parks and medians.

Goals

Community Park Stewards:

   Identify a "Park Steward” for each park and median, and encourage

         a working relationship between stewards and Public Works staff.

   Promote public ownership of parks. Support and nurture volunteer
         organizations partnering with the city to improve parks.

Advocacy:

   Build a community voice for park advocacy.

   Report annually on the maintenance of Oakland parks.

   Advocate for optimal park maintenance staffing during the city
         budget process.

Standards:

   Hold the city accountable for upholding maintenance standards.

Partnerships:

   Encourage communication and partnerships among community,
         public agencies, and private organizations.
