OPC Mission Statement: Clean and inviting public green spaces are important to the well-being of our community. Therefore, Oakland Parks Coalition brings together community members and organizations, public agencies, and businesses to maximize resources so that Oakland's parks and medians are well-maintained.

 

Goals and Objectives

 

A. Empower communitites to help care for their parks and medians through volunteerism and stewardship.

B. Promote efficient use of resources through collaboration.

C. Assess park conditions on an ongoing basis.

D. Advocate for effective park maintenance

E. Explore possibilities for establishment of park/median conservancies.

 

OPC Activities

OPC holds three annual events:

  • January's Annual Meeting
  • Summer Park Workday
  • Fall All-City Park Survey-Love Your Parks Day

Throughout the year our Board Directors:

  • Support our active stewards
  • Table at events to recruit new parks stewards

OPC has these projects on the drawing board:

  • Encouraging sports leagues to step up care of ball fields
  • Forming a Maintenance Trust
