Love Your Parks Day

Each year in the fall, with the help of volunteers and parks stewards from all areas in Oakland, OPC conducts a city-wide survey of Oakland parks to determine their condition. This year, the survey took place on Saturday, September 26. To join our core of  returnee volunteers, Oakland High School Honor Society sent us a very enthusiastic group of students to be on our survey teams. While enjoying the breakfast treats, volunteers connected to form teams; survey training took place soon after and teams were dispatched by 9:30 am to all seven council districts to complete surveys of over 100 Oakland parks.  A full report on the condition of Oakland parks will be submitted to Oakland City Council on February 9 at the Public Works Committee Meeting

Annual Report to City Council

The data from our annual surveys is used as a basis for an OPC annual report to City Council. This year's report, 2009 Community Report Card on the Maintenance of Oakland Park, will be presented to Public Works Committee on February 9. The written report and a Power Point Presentation are tools used by OPC to advocate for improved and enhanced maintenance services in Oakland Parks.
