Oakland Parks Coalition, a volunteer organization in Oakland, California, recognizes the importance of public parks to the health and well-being of urban dwellers and has worked since 2001 to promote stewardship as a means to improving the quality of Oakland's parks.

 Choose among three easy ways to help keep Oakland parks healthy and beautiful:
 

                               1. Survey parks on Love Your Parks Day.

 Urban parks contribute to the vitality of communities in various ways:  

               Helping youth to build physical, intellectual, emotional, and social strengths;

          ♥     Helping residents improve their health by providing a place to enjoy fresh air and exercise;

          ♥     Helping to build community through working together and playing together;

          ♥     Lowering crime-when youth are off the street engaged in after school recreation programs crime
